Mark Colenburg

Born in St. Louis Missouri, Mark Colenburg had a strong desire for music (particularly drums) at 2 years of age. Winning various awards in high school such as the lead drummer in the “St. Louis All Suburban Jazz Band” and the “MO All State Jazz Band”, he went on to study at The New School University in New York City. He has been honored to perform, produce, and write music with the best of the best in various genres with the likes of: Kanye West, Jay Z, Common, Lalah Hathaway, Kenny Garrett, Lizz Wright, Mos Def, Bilal, Robert Glasper, Q-tip, A Tribe Called Quest, and Erykah Badu just to name a few. He has appeared drumming for various artist on mainstream television broadcasts such as The Tonight Show w/Jimmy Fallon, The Conan Show, and The Ellen DeGeneres Show and is a Grammy Award winner for his work with The Robert Glasper Experiment. Mark appreciates God’s gift and aims to share it to the world.

What inspires me and keeps me going is great musicians and great music.
Words of wisdom for the next generation is that good teamwork can accomplish more than great isolation work. Learning and knowing how to work together is the key.
